Arcon Recruitment is recruiting a Duty Manager for a permanent position with a well-established operation in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
This is a hands-on supervisory and management position within a busy, customer-focused environment. The successful candidate will support the Site Manager and take responsibility for the smooth operation of the site during assigned shifts.
The position would particularly suit someone with experience in hotels, hospitality, leisure, retail, facilities or another busy customer-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the site during assigned shifts
- Supervise, support and coordinate team members
- Ensure high standards of customer service are maintained
- Assist with staff rotas, breaks and shift coverage
- Ensure company procedures and operational standards are followed
- Carry out opening and closing procedures where required
- Deal professionally with customer queries and resolve issues
- Monitor cleanliness, presentation and general site standards
- Ensure health & safety procedures are followed
- Report and follow up on maintenance, security and operational issues
- Liaise closely with the Site Manager
- Provide effective shift handovers
- Support the induction and training of employees
- Motivate staff and help maintain a positive working environment
- Respond effectively to unexpected operational issues
Candidate Requirements
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Hotel or hospitality experience would be highly desirable
- Experience as a Hotel Duty Manager, Assistant Manager, Supervisor, Team Leader or similar would be particularly relevant
- Strong customer service skills
- Confident supervising and motivating employees
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organised, reliable and comfortable making decisions
- Ability to work effectively in a busy environment
- Flexible regarding working hours and shift patterns
- Good understanding of health & safety and operational procedures
- Hands-on approach to day-to-day management
Moving from Hospitality?
This position could be an excellent opportunity for a Hotel Duty Manager, Assistant Hotel Manager or hospitality supervisor looking to move into a different industry while continuing to use their existing management experience.
Skills including staff supervision, rostering, customer service, handling complaints, problem-solving, maintaining standards and managing busy shifts are highly transferable to this role.
