Quantity Surveyor

We are currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a well-established and highly respected construction subcontractor based in Co. Mayo.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional who enjoys working on a variety of projects while developing their career within a progressive and successful business. The role offers excellent long-term career prospects, exposure to high-profile projects and the opportunity to work closely with senior management.

The position is ideally located for candidates living in Mayo or Sligo, with the office easily commutable from both counties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the commercial aspects of multiple construction projects from tender stage through to final account.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets and tender submissions.
  • Prepare and submit interim valuations and payment applications.
  • Monitor project costs and ensure commercial targets are achieved.
  • Identify and manage project variations.
  • Negotiate with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Procure subcontract packages and materials.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor project profitability and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Assist with contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to ensure projects are delivered on budget.
  • Attend project and commercial meetings as required.
  • Prepare and agree final accounts.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting throughout each project.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Experience working with either a main contractor or subcontractor is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and quantity surveying software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Full clean driving licence.

This position is based in Co. Mayo and is easily commutable from Castlebar, Ballina, Westport, Claremorris, Ballyhaunis, Foxford, Swinford, Charlestown, Ballinrobe, Sligo Town, Collooney, Ballymote, Tubbercurry, Ballisodare, Strandhill, Enniscrone and surrounding areas.
