Yard Person – Builders’ Providers
Location: Castlebar, County Mayo

Our client, an established builders’ provider in the Castlebar area, is seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Person to join its busy team.
This position would suit someone with experience in a builders’ merchant, warehouse, construction, agriculture or another hands-on working environment. Knowledge of building materials would be an advantage, but training may be provided to the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, check and store incoming deliveries.
- Pick and prepare customer orders accurately.
- Load and unload building materials safely.
- Assist customers collecting products from the yard.
- Keep the yard organised, clean and safe.
- Check stock and report shortages or damaged products.
- Support regular stock counts.
- Ensure materials are stored correctly.
- Operate a forklift where trained and authorised.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Work closely with the trade counter, warehouse and delivery teams.
- Provide helpful and professional customer service.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, builders’ merchant, construction or similar environment is desirable.
- Familiarity with building materials and construction products would be beneficial.
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to organise stock and complete orders accurately.
- Strong awareness of workplace health and safety.
- Forklift licence or previous forklift experience would be an advantage.
- A full, clean driving licence would be beneficial.
Location
The position is based in Castlebar and may be suitable for candidates living in Castlebar, Westport, Newport, Ballinrobe, Claremorris, Foxford, Swinford, Ballyhaunis, Knock, Kiltimagh, Charlestown or surrounding areas of County Mayo.
