About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a busy estimating and commercial team supporting construction and civil engineering projects in the Mayo, Galway, Sligo, and Roscommon region. This role offers excellent development potential and hands-on experience with both tender preparation and quantity surveying.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating Duties
- Review project drawings, specifications, and documents for tendering
- Conduct material and quantity take-offs
- Evaluate plant and subcontractor quotations
- Input take-off data and plant rates into estimation software
- Prepare tender supporting documentation
- Liaise with external estimators and suppliers
- Identify opportunities for value engineering
- Participate in site visits and client meetings
Supporting Tasks
- Maintain and update the work-in-progress (WIP) list
- Organise project files (digital and print)
- Manage drawing/document output for tender processes
- Assist with setting up project summaries
- Issue quotation and tender requests
- Complete and submit tender forms
- Update estimation software with pricing and new product information
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Recent graduate or 1–2 years of relevant experience in construction or estimating
- Familiar with quantity take-offs, tendering processes, and cost estimation
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with estimation tools
- Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude
