Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a leading engineering organisation delivering Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) projects throughout the West and North West of Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused engineering professional to lead the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects while managing multidisciplinary project teams, client relationships, contract performance and commercial outcomes.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the continued growth and development of the business while overseeing multiple projects from contract award through to commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Contract & Project Delivery
- Lead the delivery of MEICA contracts across the West of Ireland
- Manage water and wastewater pumping and treatment projects
- Review tender submissions and develop project delivery strategies
- Support the transition from tender award through to project delivery
- Create and manage project programmes from design through to commissioning and handover
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget
- Coordinate project teams, subcontractors and external stakeholders
Team Leadership
- Mentor, manage and support Project Managers, Engineers and Site Teams
- Coordinate regular contract review meetings
- Promote a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement
- Support staff development and succession planning initiatives
Commercial Management
- Oversee procurement activities and supply chain relationships
- Negotiate subcontract agreements and manage commercial risks
- Monitor project budgets and financial performance
- Ensure monthly invoicing and commercial targets are achieved
- Manage project trackers and reporting systems
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and key stakeholders
- Attend project meetings and provide regular contract updates
- Support business development and growth initiatives
- Contribute to strategic planning and operational improvement activities
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all contracts are delivered in compliance with Health & Safety legislation
- Implement procedures that support the safe delivery of projects
- Review risk assessments, method statements and commissioning plans
- Maintain quality and compliance standards throughout project delivery
Requirements
- Third-level qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering
- Alternatively, a Mechanical or Electrical trade background with significant project delivery experience
- Proven experience in a Contracts Manager, Senior Project Manager or similar role
- Experience managing Mechanical and Electrical projects
- Strong commercial awareness and contract management experience
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong organisational and planning capabilities
- Full Clean Irish Driving Licence
Desirable Experience
- Water and wastewater industry experience
- MEICA project delivery experience
- Process engineering and treatment plant knowledge
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Public sector or utility infrastructure project experience
