Trade Counter Salesperson
We are currently recruiting a Trade Counter Salesperson for a well-established business based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in builders’ merchants, construction supplies, hardware or the building industry who enjoys providing excellent customer service while supporting both trade and retail customers.
The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting customers at the trade counter, preparing quotations, costing new projects, processing orders and ensuring customers receive expert advice and outstanding service.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve trade and retail customers at the trade counter
- Provide product advice and technical guidance on building materials and construction products
- Prepare quotations and costings for new jobs and projects
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders and trade customers
- Source products and liaise with suppliers where required
- Follow up on quotations and convert enquiries into sales
- Process deliveries and customer collections
- Maintain stock levels and assist with stock control
- Work closely with warehouse and sales teams to ensure excellent customer service
- Keep up to date with new products and industry developments
- Ensure the trade counter is well organised and professionally presented
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a builders’ merchants, hardware, construction supplies or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of building materials and construction products
- Experience preparing quotations and project costings
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Good IT skills with experience using ERP or sales systems
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a busy team
- Full driving licence desirable
