Location: Sligo & Leitrim (Sligo Town, Strandhill, Rosses Point, Ballisodare, Collooney, Tubbercurry, Ballymote, Enniscrone, Grange, Coolaney, Riverstown, Manorhamilton, Drumkeeran, Drumshanbo, Carrick-on-Shannon, Ballinamore, Mohill, Dromahair, Kinlough and surrounding areas)
About the Role
A leading energy and sustainability organisation is seeking an experienced Project Manager / BER Assessor to deliver energy retrofit and building performance projects across Sligo and Leitrim.
This role involves managing energy assessments, BER surveys, Home Energy Assessments (HEAs), retrofit projects, and renewable energy evaluations across both domestic and commercial buildings throughout the region.
The successful candidate will work across Sligo Town, Strandhill, Rosses Point, Ballisodare, Collooney, Tubbercurry, Ballymote, Enniscrone, Manorhamilton, Carrick-on-Shannon, Ballinamore, Mohill, Drumshanbo, Dromahair and surrounding towns, supporting homeowners, businesses, and communities in improving building energy efficiency and accessing SEAI grant schemes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced BER Assessor with project management experience in retrofit and sustainable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
-
Manage multiple energy retrofit and building performance projects across Sligo and Leitrim.

Coordinate project timelines, subcontractors, and resources.

Ensure projects meet SEAI programme requirements, Irish building regulations, and internal quality standards.

Prepare project documentation, reports, and risk assessments.
Energy Assessments & Technical Work
-
Conduct BER assessments for domestic and commercial buildings.
-
Deliver Home Energy Assessments (HEAs) and prepare technical reports.
-
Use modelling software including DEAP and iSBEM to assess building energy performance.

Carry out or support airtightness testing, ventilation validation, and building performance testing.

Recommend energy efficiency upgrades, retrofit measures, and renewable technologies such as heat pumps and solar PV.
Quality Assurance

Carry out quality assurance audits for domestic and non-domestic properties.

Ensure compliance with SEAI quality assurance procedures.

Maintain detailed technical records and assessment documentation.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Work with homeowners, contractors, community groups, and local authorities across Sligo and Leitrim.

Provide advice on retrofit options, SEAI grants, and energy efficiency improvements.

Support clients throughout the SEAI application and retrofit process.
Essential Requirements
-
Level 7 qualification in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Sustainability or related discipline.

Registered Domestic BER Assessor.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in energy assessments, retrofit projects, or building energy performance.

Experience delivering Home Energy Assessments (HEAs).

Experience working on SEAI grant schemes including:

One Stop Shop Retrofit Scheme

Community Energy Grants
-
Strong knowledge of:

Building energy performance standards
-
Irish Building Regulations Part L

Retrofit methodologies and sustainable building practices
Technical skills:

Experience with technologies including:

DCV ventilation systems

MVHR systems

Additional requirements:

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Fluent spoken and written English

Authorised to work in Ireland

Completion of a 6-month probation period
Desirable Experience

Knowledge of SEAI quality assurance and audit procedures.

Experience delivering the Warmer Homes Scheme.

Experience producing Non-Domestic BERs.

Experience with airtightness testing or ventilation validation.

Familiarity with iSBEM or IESVE modelling software.

Experience working on EU or nationally funded sustainability projects.
