Job Description

We are seeking a Site Safety Officer for a commercial construction project in County Mayo. This 12-month contract role will involve working closely with site management to ensure full compliance with Irish Health & Safety legislation and project safety procedures.

The site is commutable from Castlebar, Westport, Ballina, Claremorris, Foxford, Swinford, and nearby areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Implementing and monitoring the site Health & Safety Management System

• Delivering site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings

• Conducting site inspections, audits, and safety observations

• Reviewing method statements, risk assessments, and permits to work

• Investigating incidents and near misses and preparing reports

• Maintaining and updating the project Safety File

• Liaising with subcontractors, site management, and client safety teams

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Site Safety Officer on commercial construction projects

• Pharmaceutical or highly regulated site experience is an advantage

• Strong working knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation

• Relevant safety qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent preferred)

• Strong reporting, communication, and organisational skills
