Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reporting to: Financial Controller
Travel: Monthly travel to project sites in the UK and Europe

Arcon Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer on behalf of an established contractor operating within the HVAC, mechanical services and building services sectors.

The successful candidate will support the commercial and financial management of projects, including cost planning, budgeting, procurement, valuations and project reporting. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers across a range of contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with project cost planning and budget preparation.
  • Support the procurement of subcontractors, suppliers and materials.
  • Track project costs and maintain effective budgetary control.
  • Prepare cost forecasts, monthly reports and financial updates.
  • Measure and value completed works.
  • Assist with interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Prepare individual project profit and loss reports.
  • Monitor project expenditure and identify potential cost variations.
  • Prepare and submit variations with the necessary supporting information.
  • Work closely with project managers and engineers throughout project delivery.
  • Assist with subcontractor management, valuations and payments.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
  • Travel to project sites in the UK and Europe approximately once per month.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least three years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering position.
  • Experience working with an HVAC, mechanical services or building services contractor would be a strong advantage.
  • Good understanding of project costing, procurement, valuations and commercial reporting.
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience using Procore or a similar project management system would be advantageous.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a project delivery team.
  • Self-motivated, responsible and comfortable managing competing priorities.
  • Full driving licence and valid passport.
  • Legally eligible to travel to and work at project sites in the UK and Europe.
