Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer

Arcon Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Cost Engineer on behalf of an established client operating within the mechanical, HVAC and building-services sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional to support the financial management of projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe. The role will involve cost control, budgeting, valuations, project reporting and the management of variations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with project cost planning, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Monitor expenditure against agreed project budgets.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and financial updates.
  • Produce individual project profit and loss reports for each contract.
  • Measure and value completed works.
  • Assist with interim valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
  • Identify, prepare and submit project variations.
  • Compile supporting information and cost data for variation submissions.
  • Monitor project costs and highlight potential commercial risks.
  • Support the procurement of subcontractors, suppliers and project materials.
  • Assist with subcontractor management, valuations and payments.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers and the finance team.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
  • Travel to project sites in the UK and Europe approximately once per month.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering role.
  • Previous experience with an HVAC, mechanical or building-services contractor would be a strong advantage.
  • Good understanding of HVAC systems, mechanical services or building-services projects.
  • Experience with cost control, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Procore or a similar construction management system would be advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Self-motivated, dependable and willing to take responsibility.
  • Full driving licence and valid passport are essential.
  • Must be legally eligible to travel to project sites in the UK and Europe.
