Project Design Engineer – Castlebar, Co. Mayo

Key Responsibilities

As a Project Design Engineer based in Castlebar, your main duties will include:

• Acting as the primary technical contact for clients and contractors on assigned projects.

• Developing and maintaining detailed SolidWorks/Revit models and technical drawings for ductwork and related components.

• Preparing material take-offs and coordinating with production and R&D teams.

• Overlaying duct designs into Navisworks BIM models to identify and resolve clashes.

• Producing custom installation drawings (e.g., flashings, transitions, Unistrut placement).

• Implementing CAD automation (DriveWorks) to streamline design tasks.

• Managing project documentation and deliverables using Procore.

• Liaising with consultants, QS, and commercial teams to refine designs.

• Supporting production and fabrication teams during handovers.

• Ensuring all design outputs meet project specifications and quality standards.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this Project Design Engineer job in Castlebar, you should have:

• Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mechanical design or building services engineering.

• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks; strong knowledge of Revit and BIM coordination.

• Experience with CAD automation tools (e.g., DriveWorks).

• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

• Full legal permission to work in the EU and fluent English.

• Familiarity with ventilation and ducting standards (e.g., SMACNA, DW144).
