Civil Engineer – Construction

Arcon Recruitment is seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to join an established construction company in County Mayo.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with at least one to two years’ experience to develop their career while supporting the delivery of construction and civil engineering projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning, coordination and delivery of construction projects.
• Set out works accurately using appropriate surveying equipment.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Monitor site progress, quality and compliance with project requirements.
• Liaise with project managers, site managers, subcontractors and consultants.
• Assist with preparing method statements, risk assessments and site documentation.
• Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and quality documentation.
• Review drawings and raise technical queries where required.
• Monitor subcontractor activities and completed work.
• Assist with material measurements, ordering and quality checks.
• Ensure work complies with relevant health and safety requirements.
• Support projects in meeting agreed programmes, budgets and quality standards.
• Attend site and project coordination meetings.

Candidate Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of one to two years’ relevant experience.
• Previous experience working on construction or civil engineering projects in Ireland.
• Good understanding of Irish construction standards and site procedures.
• Setting-out and surveying experience would be highly desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Competency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office would be beneficial.
• A full, clean driving licence is required.
• A valid Safe Pass is essential.
