Accounts Assistant

Arcon Recruitment is seeking an experienced and highly organised Vehicle Accounts Specialist / Accounts Assistant for a successful motor dealership in County Mayo.

This is a fully on-site position within a busy accounts department supporting vehicle sales, servicing and parts operations. It would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their work, managing transactions from beginning to end and working in a fast-paced commercial environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will manage the accounting journey of vehicles—from their initial purchase and entry into stock through to final sale, payment and reconciliation.

You will work closely with the sales, accounts and management teams to ensure vehicle stock, debtors, creditors and control accounts are accurately maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vehicle purchases and accurately record vehicles entering stock.
• Process and account for new and used vehicle sales.
• Manage vehicle debtors and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Complete vehicle debtor and creditor reconciliations.
• Reconcile vehicle stock records against the nominal ledger.
• Process self-supply transactions.
• Process the buy-back of sold demonstration vehicles.
• Ensure vehicles are correctly accounted for throughout their lifecycle.
• Issue customer statements and respond to account enquiries.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Ensure vehicle accounts and associated control accounts are fully reconciled.
• Work closely with the vehicle sales team to obtain required documentation.
• Support month-end accounting and reporting procedures.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Provide assistance to the wider accounts team when required.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience in accounts, bookkeeping or a finance department.
• Strong reconciliation and numerical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Confidence in following up outstanding payments.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive approach and willingness to take responsibility for assigned work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Previous accounts experience within a motor dealership would be a distinct advantage. However, applications are also welcomed from strong accounts candidates with experience in other busy commercial sectors.

Working Hours and Location

This is a full-time, fully on-site position based in County Mayo.

The normal working hours are:

Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm

This position is not available on a remote or hybrid basis.
