Overview

Arcon Recruitment is seeking an experienced Design Engineer for a leading company in the manufacturing and agricultural engineering sector based in Co. Mayo. This role is ideal for candidates with strong SolidWorks skills and a passion for mechanical design. The location offers a straightforward commute for applicants travelling from Roscommon, as well as Sligo and Galway.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and agricultural equipment using SolidWorks

  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production-ready drawings

  • Prepare and maintain BOMs, documentation, and technical specifications

  • Support product development from concept through to manufacturing

  • Work cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams

  • Assist with prototype builds, testing, validation, and continuous improvement

  • Identify design enhancements to improve performance, cost, and manufacturability

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product/Design Engineering, or related field

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling, assemblies, detailed drawings)

  • Experience in the manufacturing or agricultural sector is highly desirable

  • Strong understanding of fabrication, machining, and general manufacturing processes

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication and documentation abilities

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
