Commercial Manager – Sligo

We are recruiting an experienced Commercial Manager to take responsibility for the commercial performance, financial management, and operational leadership of a well-established and growing SME based in County Sligo.

This role is based in Sligo and is commutable from Mayo, Roscommon, and Leitrim, making it an excellent opportunity for senior professionals across the wider North West region.

This position is suitable for candidates living in or near:

Sligo town, Ballymote, Tubbercurry, Enniscrone, Easkey, Collooney, Strandhill, Rosses Point, Grange, Drumcliff, Coolaney, Riverstown, Curry, Aclare, Bunninadden, Cloonacool, Carney, Ballintogher, and surrounding areas of County Sligo.

The role is also commutable from:

• County Mayo (Ballina, Castlebar, Westport and surrounding areas)

• County Roscommon (Boyle, Carrick-on-Shannon area)

• County Leitrim (Carrick-on-Shannon, Manorhamilton and surrounding areas)

Role Overview

The Commercial Manager will oversee sales, operations, and finance while leading senior teams and implementing commercial strategies that deliver profitability, efficiency, and long-term business growth.

Working closely with the Managing Director, this senior leadership role will shape strategy, manage budgets, and drive performance across the organisation. The position requires strong financial capability, proven people leadership, and an entrepreneurial mindset suited to an owner-managed SME environment.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Commercial Leadership

• Develop and implement commercial strategy in conjunction with the Managing Director

• Lead business planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes

• Deliver business objectives in line with agreed financial targets and timelines

Sales & Business Development

• Oversee sales, marketing, and business development functions

• Manage key client relationships and identify new business opportunities

• Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities

• Ensure positive public relations and strong brand representation

Operations & People Management

• Provide leadership and support to Heads of Department and General Managers

• Promote collaboration across departments and business units

• Implement and monitor KPIs, performance reporting, and process improvements

• Ensure statutory, regulatory, and operational compliance

• Drive initiatives to improve profitability, customer satisfaction, and staff retention

• Lead senior-level recruitment and participate in disciplinary and performance management processes

Finance & Governance

• Oversee financial management across the business

• Manage cash flow, budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis

• Lead capital funding and investment planning

• Manage financial risk and ensure strong governance and compliance

• Review and negotiate contracts with financial institutions, legal advisors, suppliers, and contractors
