Production Manager / Production Supervisor

Role Overview

The Production Manager / Supervisor will oversee all manufacturing, product handling and logistics operations, ensuring the highest standards of health & safety, quality and on-time delivery.

This role is responsible for leading the production team to maintain a zero-accident culture, while promoting behaviours aligned with company values. The focus is on supporting associates, driving workshop accountability, maximising quality output and improving efficiency, while contributing to strategic decisions on manufacturing methods and long-term resource planning.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Operations

  • Oversee all manufacturing and logistics activities, ensuring full health & safety and quality compliance

  • Forecast, plan and execute manufacturing works to maximise output and commercial performance

  • Ensure contractual programme dates are achieved

  • Collaborate proactively with Engineering and Contracts Managers to optimise production operations

  • Provide strong operational leadership with a customer-focused approach

  • Engage directly with clients on key projects where critical issues are escalated

People Leadership

  • Build a motivated, productive and accountable production team

  • Lead, mentor and develop team members at all levels

  • Chair regular, structured production team meetings

  • Promote a strong safety-first culture and continuous improvement mindset

  • Work closely with HR to identify labour resourcing needs, risks and opportunities

Cost, Plant & Inventory Control

  • Manage production activity costs against agreed budgets and P&Ls

  • Own and manage the maintenance programme for all production plant and equipment

  • Work closely with procurement on inventory management

  • Take ownership of weekly and monthly stock checks

KPIs & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop, implement and analyse production KPIs

  • Complete weekly KPI trackers across all production functions

  • Provide clear weekly production reports to the Senior Leadership Team

  • Lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Drive improvements in efficiency, quality and overall performance

Strategy & Planning

  • Contribute to company planning, policy and strategic decision-making

  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term manufacturing strategies

  • Support the introduction of new products, processes and markets

  • Shape future manufacturing methods and resource planning

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Production Manager, Production Supervisor or Manufacturing Manager

  • Strong background in manufacturing operations and workshop management

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with production teams

  • Solid understanding of health & safety, quality systems and lean manufacturing

  • Commercial awareness with experience managing costs and budgets

  • Strong organisational, communication and decision-making skills

  • KPI-driven with a continuous improvement mindset
