Overview

Arcon Recruitment is seeking an Accountant / Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeper for our client based in Claregalway. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional or part-qualified accountant looking to progress in a busy, growing organisation.

A construction background is a distinct advantage, though candidates from all industries with strong accounts experience will be considered.

This role is easily commutable from Tuam and all major towns in Galway, including Galway City, Athenry, Oranmore, Loughrea, Headford and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day accounting activities

• Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers and journals

• Process invoices, payments, purchase orders and supplier reconciliations

• Support month-end and year-end procedures

• Prepare bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow reporting

• Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders

• Assist with payroll preparation (if required by the client)

• Support the Finance Manager or Accountant with ad-hoc duties

• Contribute to efficient finance processes and improvements

• Handle construction-related accounts tasks (CIS/RCT, subcontractor payments) if experienced

Requirements

• Experience in an accounts, bookkeeping or accounting role

• Relevant qualification desirable (Accounts Technician, Part-Qualified, IATI, ACCA, etc.)

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organisational and time management skills

• Ability to work well independently and within a team

• Construction industry finance experience is beneficial (RCT/CIS, subcontractor management), but not essential

• Positive, proactive attitude
