Solar Farm Operation & Maintenance Manager / Project Manager

Location: Suitable for candidates in Galway, Meath , Offaly, Laois, Tipperary, Cork, Galway, Roscommon, Westmeath, Meath (Midlands & South/South-East/South-West)

We are recruiting for an experienced Solar Farm Operation & Maintenance Manager / Project Manager to oversee the technical operation, maintenance and performance of a portfolio of 9 solar farms totalling 78MW, located across:

  • Cork

  • Meath

  • Offaly

This position is designed for a candidate with strong electrical expertise, excellent fault-finding skills, and the ability to manage both technical field work and project responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will be based in the Midlands, South, South-East or South-West, making the role accessible for candidates living in:
Offaly, Laois, Tipperary, Cork, Galway, Roscommon, Westmeath or Meath, Kilkenny 


Role Overview

This hybrid role combines:
🔧 Hands-on electrical maintenance
📈 Performance monitoring
👷 Technician supervision
📋 Project management responsibility

The successful candidate will manage fault response, oversee maintenance activities, lead small project works, and ensure all solar assets operate safely and efficiently.

During quieter periods, this person will support other departments including:

  • Construction

  • Commissioning

  • Design

  • Project delivery

This role is ideal for someone who is both on-the-tools capable and confident managing people, technical workflows, and small-scale projects.


Key Responsibilities

Operations & Performance Management

  • Monitor daily performance across solar farms in Cork, Meath and Offaly

  • Analyse underperformance and implement corrective actions

  • Ensure each site complies with operational, safety and environmental standards

Maintenance & Fault Response

  • Respond rapidly to alarms, system issues and site call-outs

  • Conduct hands-on electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics

  • Perform scheduled PPM and corrective maintenance across multiple counties

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, testing records and site reports

Project Management

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver small site upgrades, repairs and improvement works

  • Manage timelines, budgets, materials and contractor support where required

  • Prepare method statements, RAMS and project documentation

  • Support new build / construction projects during quieter periods

Team Management

  • Lead and coordinate technicians during busy periods

  • Allocate tasks and ensure work is completed safely and to spec

  • Provide technical mentoring and support to junior team members

Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare maintenance reports, inspection documents and technical summaries

  • Maintain compliance with internal procedures and industry regulations

  • Support H&S documentation, audits and quality standards


Skills & Experience Required

  • Qualified Electrician or Electrical Engineer

  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic expertise (critical)

  • Experience in solar/PV is a bonus but not essential

  • Full clean driver’s licence

  • Fluent English

  • Comfortable travelling across multiple counties

  • Strong interest in renewable energy
