Buyer – Full-Time | Co. Mayo
We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Buyer to join a growing distribution and supply business in Co. Mayo. This role requires strong sourcing, negotiation and planning skills, along with the ability to build effective supplier relationships and support operational efficiency across the organisation.
The successful candidate will manage purchasing activities, coordinate deliveries, and work closely with internal teams to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of goods.
Role Overview
The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing materials, negotiating pricing, managing supplier performance, and coordinating inbound deliveries — including international imports. This is a fast-paced role that requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to analyse purchasing data to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Management

Source, evaluate and select suppliers across multiple product categories

Negotiate pricing, terms and contracts to achieve best value for the business

Build and maintain positive, long-term supplier relationships

Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues proactively
Procurement Planning

Manage purchasing schedules based on stock levels, forecasts and internal demand

Coordinate international and domestic deliveries to ensure timely arrival

Maintain accurate records of product pricing, lead times and supplier details

Prepare purchasing reports and assist with forecasting activities
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Sales, Finance, Warehouse and Goods-In teams

Provide up-to-date information on product availability, pricing and lead times

Support internal stakeholders with procurement insights and updates
Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve procurement processes

Analyse purchasing trends and recommend operational improvements

Support the development of procurement strategies and supplier rationalisation
Experience & Skills Required

Previous experience in a Buyer, Purchasing or Procurement role

Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills

Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel ability

High attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and multitask

Capable of working independently and as part of a wider team

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Experience within distribution, hardware, manufacturing or similar sectors
